When Dylan Harraway left the tattoo studio with his new inking, he was over the moon with the design.
He got the words ‘Dream Chaser’ on his forearm as he wanted “motivation to chase his dreams”.
However when the 18-year-old showed his new addition off to his friend, they quickly pointed out that something was very, very wrong with it.
The tattoo artist did the design – including the words – on his arm backwards. Oops.
Unsurprisingly, a video of the tattoo has been popular online with more than 2.5million views since it was uploaded to Instagram.
Dylan, a rapper from Virginia, USA, spent two hours in the chair and splashed out $200 for the tattoo.
He said: “I hadn’t been to the shop before but it was very clean and professional.
“I got the tattoo because I wanted motivation for me to chase my dreams and I’m a big fan of the rapper meek mill.
“Dream chaser means to me that I need to do whatever I need to do to chase my dreams of living the life I’ve wanted as a kid.
“I thought the tattoo looked great when I first saw it!”
However his pal was quick to tell him it was backwards, and found the whole thing hilarious.
He said: “I didn’t notice until my friend told me it was backwards.
“I was very angry and there were a lot of emotions running through me.”
There have been mixed reactions to his botched permanent marking from those close to him and on social media.
Speaking about this he said: “My friend just thought it was funny and it looked good and my family thought I was a dumbass!
“There have been good and bad reactions on social media from saying it looked good and I can embrace it, to saying it looks terrible and that’s what I get for $200.”
After the video went viral, Dylan even got a message from celebrity tattoo artist Bang Bang, whose customers include Rihanna and Kylie Jenner, offering him a cover up.
Dylan said: “I’m not traumatized and I’m looking forward to finishing my sleeve in the future.”
One helpful social media user had a suggestion for Dylan, saying: “Just have a kid and name him Resahc Maerd.
“Modern problems require modern solutions.”
Others were unsympathetic to his plight, with one commenting: “Serve you right for getting dream chaser on your arm.”
